In the rodent brain the fasciculus retroflexus (FR, in green) courses through brain regions rich in chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs, in red). CSPGs guidance FR axons by converting the axon guidance cue Sema5A from an attractive to a repulsive cue. See Kantor et al. (Neuron, 2004) for details.
