Johns Hopkins University Neuroscience

2007 Annual Retreat

All members of the Neuroscience Graduate Program, including faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, were invited to attend and participate in the department's annual retreat, which was held this year at the Harbourtowne Golf and Converence Center in scenic St. Michaels Maryland.  The Retreat is designed to 1) increase awareness of the diversity of on-going neuroscience research in the Neuroscience Department, 2) provide a relaxed venue for collegial interaction among the many labs in the neuroscience department, and 3) expose participants to presentations covering a wide range of contemporary neuroscience research areas in an atmosphere much like that of a national meeting.

The  agenda included faculty research presentations, a poster session, free time, keynote speaker presentation by Michael Ehlers, a prominent Neuroscientist from Duke University (and graduate of our own Neuroscience Program), dinner and a reception with music and dancing.

Harbourtowne Conference and Golf Center is situated in a unique location allowing all 111 guest rooms views of the water. The 153-acre resort is on Maryland’s Eastern Shore - the junction of the Chesapeake Bay and Miles River.  Guests enjoy water views from their own balcony or patio. Many rooms have a working fireplace or wood-burning stove for those cooler months. All rooms are equipped with cable TV, coffee makers, and a spacious bath.
