Recreation + Wellness

With almost 5,000 acres of park space in Baltimore City, and over 100 national parks in Maryland, there is no shortage of camping, fishing, sailing, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, crabbing, windsurfing and biking activities in the Baltimore area.

Baltimore is full of opportunities for physical exercise, health and wellness programs. Whether you want to run, engage in outdoor programs on land or water, participate in sports and intramural athletics, or work out in the gym, you’ll find options aplenty.

Johns Hopkins University has a variety of gym and fitness facilities for students and faculty, including the Denton A. Cooley Fitness Center that caters to the Johns Hopkins Medical community.

In addition, Baltimore is a city with a thriving international community and many options for healthy eating and a thriving alternative living community.
