The goal of my research program is to elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the psychopathology of neuropsychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and depression. Leveraging our expertise in basic neurobiology and my backgrounds in clinical psychiatry, our current research focuses on investigating how environmental risk factors (e.g., psychosocial stress, teen cannabis use), genetic risks, and aging impact immune and inflammatory processes, contributing to aberrant brain function and leading to disease psychopathology. Our mission is to uncover critical molecular pathways that underlie disease pathophysiology and identify potential molecular targets for novel pharmacological interventions. Ultimately, we aim to develop mechanism-based strategies for the prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders.
