Mechanisms of human sensorimotor learning and motor recovery after brain injury

Society arguably values motor skill above anything else if athlete's salaries and sports coverage are anything to go by. We use psychophysics, modeling, functional brain imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, and studies in neurological patients to characterize the modular architecture of human motor control and human motor learning.

Motor impairment after stroke is the leading cause of disability in the US. We use quantitative motion analysis, structural and functional imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation and robotics to both study mechanisms of motor recovery after stroke and to devise new neurorehabilitation approaches.
