Dr. Xinzhong Dong Awarded the 2016 Donlin M. Long Pain Service Award

Xinzhong Dong, PhD., Professor of Neuroscience, Neurosurgery, and Dermatology, and HHMI Investigator received the 2016 Donlin M. Long Pain Service Award on November 2nd.

The Donlin M. Long Award honors those who have served the Johns Hopkins community in advancing the standards of pain care and embodied the institution’s dedication to alleviate suffering and pain associated with illness. 

In reception of the award, Dr. Dong presented his researched in a seminar titled “Mechanisms of Pain and Itch”.

The program is coordinated by the Blaustein Pain Research Fund whose advisory board nominates and selects recipients.

About Dr. Long

Donlin M. Long, M.D., Ph.D. served as Director of Neurosurgery from 1973 until 2000, and was one of the first program directors to adopt a major interest in chronic pain. He developed an infrastructure for patient care at Johns Hopkins while advancing the standards for pain care around the world.
