Congratulations to primary neuroscience faculty members Dr. Amy Bastian and Dr. Dwight Bergles for being elected as new members of the National Academy of Medicine!
Election to the National Academy of Medicine is one of the highest honors in health, medicine, and biomedical science. The NAM is part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, a congressionally chartered organization that provides independent, evidence-based advice to the nation on critical issues in science, health, medicine, and public policy. Members are elected by their peers in recognition of exceptional professional achievement, major contributions to advancing medical science, health care, or public health, and a demonstrated commitment to service. With election, members join a distinguished group of leaders who help shape national conversations and recommendations on some of society’s most pressing health challenges. Membership to the NAM is a mark of extraordinary impact for discoveries and leadership that have advanced knowledge, improved care, and contributed meaningfully to human health.
